Grey WIP - ink and watercolor on paper - 16" x 12"

Something completely different... I was sort of in a textural mindset tonight, so experimented with some broad strokes.

I really like it! Not sure where it will go from here, but I guess we'll see. . .

The show was great! Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures... was too busy running around, meeting people, hanging out with friends I hadn't seen in a while, and drinking copious amounts of beer. A good time was had by all, and I even sold a few pieces!

Hooray!

Here's a picture I snagged from Gallery 1988's blog

Thanks to everyone who made it!

Hey all - I just wanted to let you know that I'll be showing work in a group show in a couple of weeks. I'm really excited about it -- the artists participating are all based in the Bay Area, and there is a tremendous amount of talent in this group. Here are the details:

I was invited by friend and fellow artist Phoneticontrol to take part in a show he's putting together in Maryland. It's called "Heavy Hitterz" and will take place at Art Whino gallery in National Harbor, MD. If you're in the area, definitely go check it out, it should be a good time!

The show opens July 25th, and I'll be showing the piece above --

"Golden" - 12" x 9" - watercolor, gouache and ink on paper

Hard to tell in this image, but the highlights on the hills and some of the splashes in the sky are done with gold paint. Fun stuff.

I'll try to post a video tonight that shows how the light plays on the paint =)
