Two Birthday Presents

Happy New Year everyone! I thought I would try to post these before I headed out for the festivities.

Two birthday presents for two close friends of mine -- one is incredibly late, and one is right on time. Also, I included a picture of my work space, just to give an idea of what sort of tools I use...

Also, here's picture of my very messy work space.

Happy New Year!

Family Christmas Presents

Haven't been able to post for a while because of the Christmas rush... but since everyone has gotten their presents, here are the last few that I painted for gifts. "Two Monkeys" is for my sister and fiancee since they're both monkeys in the Chinese zodiac. "Two Bunnies" is for my parents since my mom doesn't like the paintings where I draw "scary" things.

=)

Work Graffiti

I still can't post the Christmas presents I've been painting for friends and family, but at least there's some other interesting stuff going on --

So at work they're installing skylights in our building. To shield the rest of the building from all the construction dust and noise, they put up temporary walls made of plywood. They even painted them white so it fits with the rest of our office decor! . . . and essentially they looked like one big canvas to me...

I started small, with little figures around the edges. And when no one yelled at me, I went nuts. Here are the results to date:

Newsprint Number 5

Hmmm... I finished (or have almost finished) a piece that I really love! But I can't show it, because the intended giftee almost certainly checks my blog regularly. Boo!

Oh well, I'll post it once they've received it.

In the meantime, here's a piece I did a while ago that I liked quite a bit. I'm pretty sure I never got a chance to post it, so here it is.

I've started working on Christmas presents for friends back home in Chicago. I'm pretty sure they don't check my blog, so it should be okay to show these here =).

"Blue Octo " - ink and watercolor on wood - 12 " x 12 "

I liked Pink Octo from two days ago so much that I wanted to try something similar with a different color palette. I finished the wash and the background last night -- and painted the Octo tonight.

Hope you all like it =).

Hi all! My solo show, "sideshow" is all framed and ready to hang. In case you haven't heard, the show starts this coming Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Given. The opening reception (free food and booze) will take place from 7pm to 9pm on Saturday. For more show details, check out the flyer here: sideshow flyer

If you live in San Francisco or the Bay area and think you can make it, feel free to RSVP on the Facebook event that I created. Check it out here.

The pieces below will all be shown, and the prices are accurate. They will be on sale at the beginning of the opening, 7pm on Saturday. If interested in a piece, please contact the gallery at info@givenonline.com. To maintain parity for those coming to the show, please wait until after the opening has begun, 7pm on Saturday to express interest in a piece.

Dec 2 update: there will be twenty three pieces shown, two were pulled due to size constraints... =P

It's been a crazy busy few days... Got a lot of painting done -- here are a few more wood pieces for the show in a couple weeks!

This may be it in terms of pieces for the show... I need to start planning out how I'm going to lay it all out in the gallery space. I'll still paint and experiment and post in the meantime though =).

'Night.
