"Happy New Year" - digital
=) Here's to 2008. Happy new year everyone!
Green - work in progress
"Green" - work in progress - 6" x 4" - acrylic on board
So that green thing I started a couple days ago turned into a squiddy thing. Ha. It was either going to turn out to be a cloud or a monster -- in this case it was monster. Maybe i'll do another one with clouds instead. Acrylics are fun, I should play around with them more. =)
It's been a restful few days back in SF... new years eve is tomorrow, and then wednesday it's back to work.

The Visitor
"The Visitor" - ink and watercolor on board
Phew, finally finished this one. Sorry about the crappy picture -- i need to get a new camera. But here it is! I'm happy with it, it turned out pretty neat!
Board is fun to work on, it doesn't fall apart the way paper does.
Hopefully I'll get a better picture of this soon and post it on my art site --

Merry Christmas Thing
"Merry Christmas Thing" - ink and watercolor in moleskine
Merry Christmas!
Started a new moleskine... but i think i'm going to have to use another one. This one is too small and doesn't handle watercolors well... i'll still keep this one but only use it for ink things i guess.
Ha, who'd have guessed that the "watercolor moleskine" works the best for watercolors!? not me, i guess. failure.

Drew this on the plane yesterday. Ha, as you can see, i'm taking these pictures with my macbook's onboard webcam. Still works okay for my purposes though. Maybe I'll go back and replace these with higher res scans later on.
Family time, friend time, happy time, sleepy time.
Heh.

Whew, back. A great but exhausting weekend! Other than travel delays both going to LA and coming back to SF (note to self, never take Delta again), everything went well.
The show was great, I got to meet a bunch of other talented artists -- I wasn't the only one from SF -- and the owner of the gallery. Turns out that I may have another show in Long Beach with the same gallery, but with only SF artists. Should be interesting -- there definitely is a different aesthetic between the SF artists and the LA ones. It could also be an age difference thing too though.
But yes, good times. Hung out with my friend, met up with my cousin, watched a movie, and did a ton of sketching.
It's good to be back. The weather is wretched, and I am soaked from walking the twenty minutes from the BART station up to my apartment tonight. Exhausted, and it's way too late (didn't get back until 1am) to do anymore painting.
soo.... g'night!

Jane's Birthday Present
live drawing for charity!
Tonight I had the honor of being a live painter for Kearny Street Workshop's holiday party. There was a silent auction through the whole party, and four artists had one hour to creat artwork to add to the silent auction. All of the proceeds went to the non profit.
It was fun! I haven't ever done this before, and it was a little weird to be drawing under time constraints... but overall it was a good experience. The other artists were great, and all of our work sold to make Kearny Street money =). I bid on a few pieces but I was outbid. Sad...
