Seeya Monday (again)

Just a note- I'm out of town visiting a friend for the next few days. Stay tuned for the next video game piece (or the continuance of the megaman one...)

Megaman Apocalypse

"Megaman Apocalypse" - acrylic, ink and watercolor on board - 10" x 8 "

Same premise as the Pacman one -- what if the world had depended on Megaman to protect it, and what if Megaman had lost? (also for the Giant Robot show coming up)

I'm not sure I'm done with this one yet... the little guy looks lonely by himself. Maybe I'll paint him some backup =).

Sorry, no new progress on the Blue piece... Well, actually I did work on it a bit last night, but I made the mistake of laying my head down in between layers of acrylic. When I woke up it was 5am and I dragged myself into bed. Failure.

Who's idea was it that people had to sleep every day anyway!? Booerns.

So, instead of something new, here's something old.

"Someone Push Me" - digital

(if you liked this, you can check out some other examples of my digital work here.)

Blue - WIP

Blue - WIP - acrylic and watercolor on board - 10" x 8"

The beginnings of another piece for the Giant Robot show...

"IA Doodle"

"IA Doodle"- pen on paper - 8" x 5"

I'll be painting more tonight, but just wanted to post something I doodled at work today. My random doodles are starting to resemble more and more the work I do as an Information Architect... flow charts, site maps, diagrams, etc. Pretty fun =)

"Pacman Apocalypse"

Washington DC was a ton of fun. It was good to take a break and visit some friends. I did a bunch of sketching... maybe I'll upload some of the better ones later on. In the meantime, I've been working on another piece for the upcoming Giant Robot - Game Over show...

So I asked myself... what if the world depended on Pacman defeating the ghosts? And what if he lost?

Seeya Monday

No painting tonight, too busy packing. I'm off to DC to visit friends for the long weekend. I'll be back Sunday though... running out of time for this next show!!

"Mog's Revenge"

"Mog's Revenge " - acrylic, ink and watercolor on board - 10" x 8 "

The first in a series of video game themed pieces for an upcoming Giant Robot show... Hmm, not sure if I'm happy with this one yet =/.

Purple - WIP

Purple - WIP - acrylic on board - 10" x 8"

Here's the beginnings of a piece that will be part of a group show at Giant Robot (SF) next month! More details on that soon... =)

"Spring Mountains"

"Spring Mountains" - acrylic and watercolor on board - 7" x 5"

"Follow Me"

"Follow Me" - watercolor and ink on illustration board - 20 " x 15"

It's been a while since I've done a piece like this... But I feel like I've been able to apply some of the things I've learned to this old theme. Cool, I should revisit past themes more often =).

"Walking the Stars"

"Walking the Stars" - acrylic on board - 7" x 5"

Started several pieces this weekend. Started over on several pieces this weekend as well... Here's one that I finished that I was happy with. Lots of trial and error, but I suppose that's the only way to learn... =P

"Blue Wash Digital"

"Blue Wash Digital " - acrylic and digital media

So I did this awesome blue wash on a 7" x 5" piece of prepared masonite. And then I fucked it up. Luckily I took a picture of it before said fucking up took place.

I brought the picture into Alias Sketchbook Pro and worked on it a bit on my tablet... The end result: a combination digital and traditional painting that takes advantage of the awesome wash =).

Good times!

"Urchin" - acrylic on board - 7" x 5"

Same media and materials as last night... but a bit more abstract and a lot creepier. Hehe.

"Pink Angel"

"Pink Angel" - acrylic and watercolor on board - 7" x 5"

Really liking the texture of these prepared boards I got at Blick Art Supply. I like how this one turned out =) I'll explore this a bit more...

Pepsi Logo - a response

Pepsi Logo - A Response: digital

So they recently plastered the Powell BART station in San Francisco with Pepsi ads. Just big posters that say "POP", "HOPE", "SODA", "JOY", etc. All flaunting Pepsi's new lopsided logo.

And every time I see the logo, I can't help imagining a big belly button in the middle... So I thought I would share my vision with you all. You'll never look at the Pepsi logo the same again =).

Wow, hi internet. Thanks for stopping by -- If you'd like to see what else I do, the rest of my blog can be viewed
here, or you can visit my artwork site here.

Back by popular demand... "Pepsi Logo - a response" tees!

"Butterfly Triptych"

"Butterfly Triptych" - ink and watercolor on illustration board - 3" x 12" each

Haven't done one of these in a while... it's nice to do something simple again, after all this crazy abstract stuff that's been pulsating in my head =P

"Goldfish" - ink, watercolor and acrylic on wood - 8" x 6"

A little girl walking a goldfish... a request from a friend =).

"Butterflies" - ink and watercolor on paper - 16" x 12"

Revisiting some old themes and bringing in some new techniques. I like the result... =)

"Hills" - acrylic on canvas - 4" x 5"

Still experimenting with different media and techniques. I really like this one a lot! The flexibility and textures of acrylic are loads of fun. Definitely a different feel than watercolor...

"Bunny Suit"

"Bunny Suit" - ink and watercolor on paper - 9" x 7"

Felt like doing something a bit more whimsical after all the abstract stuff...

"Purge" - WIP 1

"Purge" - WIP 1 - ink and watercolor on paper

tentatively a work in progress... I may look at it tomorrow and decide that it's done =P

"Leap" - WIP 1

"Leap" - WIP 1 - ink and watercolor on wood - 12" x 12"

I decided to take a break from the "Scarecrow" piece tonight... I've been meaning to try out some different techniques and experiment with textures. This is the result! Pretty cool, I'm not sure if it's done yet, so there's a tentative WIP (work in progress) attached.

Blue Abstract WIP 1

"Blue Abstract" WIP 1 - acrylic on masonite - 20" x 16" (detail view)

Here's a small cut of something that I've been working on for a few days... Don't know why, but I've been driven to do these more abstract pieces lately. Maybe the weather? Or maybe just insane. Either way, here's where this piece is now.

Have some more whimsical stuff that I want to paint after this one... but it feels like i need to get this blue piece out of my head first.

Happy weekend!

"Breach" - watercolor on wood - 14 " x 11 "

Lost a lot of sleep over this guy... just couldn't stop painting though =). Maybe I'll include some more detail shots later, going to get some shuteye before work now.
